Ecologically safe development of a large region – the Volga basin

On December 16, 2024, the 14th Sakharov Readings were held in Nizhny Novgorod, dedicated to the work of Academician A.D. Sakharov "The World in Half a Century".

The greatest interest was aroused by the lecture of the scientific director of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.M. Sergeev "Sakharov: Horizons of Predictions". The lecture analyzed academic forecasts of recent decades, among which, in addition to Sakharov's work, an article by Nobel laureate Academician V.L. Ginzburg was highlighted, which focused on the prospects for the development of fundamental research in physics and biology. The key question is how far we can advance in explaining biological patterns based on fundamental physical concepts. In a broader sense, this question concerns the prospects for applying reductionism in scientific and practical research.

Leading professors of the NNSUACE UNESCO Chair took part in the work of the sections. Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering Dmitry Shchegolev presented a conceptual report "Construction Education of the Future". His report includes an analysis of upcoming changes in construction education in the coming years, including beyond 2030.
