UNESCO Chair Work Plan for 2026–2027
Important changes took place at the UNESCO Chair in September. A meeting was held where the Chair’s research and educational activity plan for 2026–2027 was adopted. The work plan and associated personnel decisions were presented by D.L. Shchegolev, Rector of NNGASU.
Two key activities were selected for the upcoming work: cultural heritage preservation and the sustainable development of natural and urban areas. Professor T.P. Vinogradova has been appointed to lead heritage preservation projects. Cooperation with ICOMOS is managed by Professor A.S. Shumilkin, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of ICOMOS. Professor T.S. Ryzhova oversees activities related to the inclusion of heritage sites on the World Heritage List.
Leadership of sustainable development projects has been assigned to A.V. Ivanov, Deputy Head of the UNESCO Chair. Associate Professor I.V. Katraeva manages joint educational initiatives with Lobachevsky University. Senior Lecturer D.M. Malyshev has been appointed to oversee priority projects.
An important upcoming event for the Chair’s staff is the international conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks, scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg on December 10–11, 2026.
