Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU) is an institution of higher education accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Presently it is one of the leading universities of Russia offering professional education in architecture and construction engineering. The body of its faculty members and researchers is over 1000. The number of students enrolled is over 23 000 students. The University activity areas are education, scientific research and innovation.

Higher education programs offered by the University include 19 first degree, 38 specialist-level, and 15 master’s degree curricula. Since 1930 more than 50 thousand specialists graduated from the university.
The University is a major research center of the Volga basin in the field of architecture, urban development, construction science and environmental engineering. It has a number of scientific schools well known in Russia and abroad. Postgraduate studies and research leading to the Ph.D degree (aspirantura) are offered in 31 subject areas and in 17 areas of the highest level research leading to the academic degree of D. Sc. (Doctor Nauk). There are three university academic councils conferring the degrees.

Faculty of environmental engineering systems and structures:
Nature Management, Occupational Health and Safety in Industry, Water Supply and Sanitation, Heat and Gas Supply, Industrial Power Engineering, Automation of Technological Processes and Production in Construction Industry.
Faculty of Architecture and Urban Development:
Architecture, Design of Architectural Environment, Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage, Urban Construction and Economy, Land Cadastre, Urban Cadastre, Construction of Roads and Airfields, Garden Design and Landscape Construction, Socio-Cultural Services and Tourism.
Faculty of Economics and Law:
Economics and Management (in construction industry), Organization Management, Marketing, Business Accounting - Analysis and Audit, Law.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CENTER
The University has been training foreign students at the International Students Centre since 1992. The duration of the pre-university course is one academic year.
Presently, the University provides training for more than 160 foreign students from 20 countries worldwide. In the course of their studies they not only learn to speak Russian, have easy access to Internet and e-mail, but also get acquainted with Russian culture and traditions.
Non-local students are accommodated in comfortable double and triple rooms of the university’s hostel. The hostel has a cafe.
